Life just went full Endless Summer Vacation mode for Miley Cyrus, who is officially engaged to her boyfriend of four years, Maxx Morando.
The pair stealthily announced their engagement on December 1 while attending the world premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash in Los Angeles. The 33-year-old pop star posed for photos on the red carpet with her hand placed sweetly upon the 27-year-old musician’s chest—and a diamond ring sparkling on her left ring finger. Sources confirmed the news to Page Six, and Morando’s father shared a very adorable congratulatory post on social media—showing the couple out at a sushi restaurant with the rest of the family, hugging and smiling—with the caption: “❤️ 💍🍾🎉.” (The most eagle-eyed among us first spotted a ring on Cyrus’s finger in an Instagram post for her birthday in November.)
For the high-profile moment, Cyrus dressed in her typical ultraromantic, gothic-femme way, wearing a black strapless Gucci spring 2026 gown with a ruffled fishtail skirt paired with lashings of silver Messika jewelry. But eyes were drawn to her new engagement ring: a cushion-cut stone on a thick, 14k yellow gold band, made bespoke by designer Jacquie Aiche. Vintage inspired, romantic, and elegant, it’s a style that bridges old-world charm with contemporary, refined details.
The east-west bezel-set style Cyrus and Morando chose is enjoying something of a moment among more modern brides-to-be right now, after engagement ring trends long focused on vertical oval and marquise diamonds (including those worn by Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez). Now, the likes of Zendaya and Cyrus have opted for the bezel-set east-west diamond. This less traditional choice showcases a stone set horizontally, with its most elongated side parallel to the ring band.
Cyrus and Dua Lipa have brought renewed attention to yellow gold engagement rings, according to Francesca Simons, founder of Francesca Simons Consulting, who reps ring designer Jacquie Aiche. “[These are] substantial, sculptural designs that feel modern and confident,” Simons tells Vogue. “This shift toward bolder gold silhouettes speaks to a desire for individuality. An east-west setting also supports a large carat design—high drama, high carat, as seems to be the case here for the happy couple.
