Miley Cyrus can buy herself flowers, but her boyfriend Maxx Morando has something a little shinier to offer: a sparkling diamond engagement ring, per reports.
When, on December 1, the couple attended the world premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash in Los Angeles together, the 33-year-old singer posed for photos with her hand lovingly placed on the 27-year-old drummer’s chest—showing a diamond ring on her left ring finger.
Cyrus’s ring, featuring a cushion-cut stone on a 14k yellow gold band, is by designer Jacquie Aiche.
Cyrus, who recorded the song “Dream as One” for James Cameron’s new film, has been in a relationship with Morando since 2021, when they were set up on a blind date. “Well, it was blind for me and not really for him,” she told British Vogue. “I thought, ‘The worst that can happen is I leave.’”
She also offered Vogue an early hint at their relationship when her festival-season wardrobe featured a design by Morando, whom she called one of her “favorite emerging artists” at the time. Fittingly, the couple went red carpet official at Gucci’s “Love Parade” show in November 2021. More public appearances followed, from paparazzi makeouts to Nobu dinners, fashion shows, and the 2024 Grammys, where Cyrus thanked Morando in her acceptance speech for record of the year, calling him “my love.”
Morando is a drummer for the rock band Liily (who played at Cyrus’s 2022 New Year’s Eve special on NBC), as well as a songwriter and producer. The two have collaborated on multiple projects, including Cyrus’s 2023’s album Endless Summer Vacation and her 2025 visual album Something Beautiful.
“I worked with my dad forever. That’s how me and my ex-husband met each other. I’ve always worked with the people that I love. And Maxx just inspires me so much,” she told Harper’s Bazaar of their creative work together. She added, “He’s very similar to me. We just don’t take life too seriously.”
