Every once in a while, something appears on the runway that s so enticing I have to sit on my hands in order to keep myself from reaching out and grabbing it. And today’s most covetable item came in the form of **J. JS Lee’**s frame-briefcase-backpack hybrid. Hanging somewhere between a classic 1950s frame bag and a sharp gentleman’s briefcase (yet conveniently blown up to the size of a portfolio), the dove-gray, tan, and black holdalls capture, Lee says, “the feeling of an old bag that can be carried in a modern way”—while, crucially, still playing on her, and our, ongoing fascination with androgynous silhouettes.
The Korean-born, London-based designer’s elegant brief-pack invention—with its inner laptop and iPhone compartments—offers all the beauty of a traditional purse, but comfortably suspended on a shoulder-sharing harness. Now who doesn’t want a bag like that?
