New York Fashion Week is already in full swing, and the streets of New York are crowded with stylish showgoers, street style photographers, and models going from one venue to the next. A snowstorm awaits us in Paris (unusual for the city during this time), and according to the forecast, it seems like New York is expecting some heavy rain over the next couple of days. No scenic outdoor venues and no easy breezy dresses come February shows—so how do Vogue editors go from show to show, back to the office and back out all day for nine days straight? We share some of our most prized fashion essentials and tips below.
While Creative Digital Director Sally Singer sticks to her favorite Batsheva dress no matter the season (paired down with sturdy cowboy boots for the winter of course), Beauty Associate Zoe Ruffner opts for her L.L.Bean long underwear for warmth, topped with a stylish faux fur hat from Emma Brewin. Steff Yotka, Fashion News and Emerging Platforms Editor, stays practical with her smart-knit fingertip gloves so she can review her shows on the go, and Fashion News Editor Monica Kim switches back and forth between her Balenciaga platforms and a budget-friendly pair from Unif depending on the weather that day. See below for how 11 Vogue editors dress for the job during one of the busiest (and coldest) weeks.
SALLY SINGER, Creative Digital Director
I am hoping that my new Lucchese boots make me walk a little taller and with a smidgen more swagger this season. That said, every season is Batsheva season in my world. Cotton dresses in subfreezing temps, why not? I don’t know if it’s the frigid weather or Phoebe’s exit but all my Céline sweaters are in full rotation. I also have a ’70s purple velvet jacket from Saint Laurent Rive Gauche that I just found at Marlene Wetherall. It has whipstitched lapels and the narrowest sleeves. Plan to layer under and over everything.
STEFF YOTKA, Fashion News and Emerging Platforms Editor
My personal recipe for February Fashion Week is a giant parka with a zillion pockets for all the invites and press releases; a small bag to hold phones, snacks, and Mophies; flat boots for running around come rain, sleet, or snow; and Uniqlo’s Heattech gloves with smart-knit fingertips, so you can type reviews and stay warm at the same time.
EDWARD BARSAMIAN, Style Editor
Every Fashion Week, I feel like my ensembles get more and more similar. This year, I’ve tried to infuse my looks with some fun accents, including Victoria Beckham’s whistle key ring (affixed to my bags) and Céline’s Thin Shadow shades as replacements for my well worn flattop shades. Other necessities? My Chanel beanie from my brother and sister-in-law and my friend Olivia Palermo’s bright red coat for Banana Republic.

A coat big enough to layer under.
A soft—and warm—muffler.
No. 6 clogs because winter will probably assert herself.
For good luck, a vintage charm bracelet.
For an energy boost, a little dab of fragrance.
To add a hygge touch to late night writing sessions, slippers.

My Columbia hiking boots have gotten me through the winter thus far, and I plan on trudging to and from shows in them most days this week. I love to wear them with my vintage Levi’s and for running around, I will switch between a Frances de Lourdes white tee and a printed vintage top. Because it will undoubtedly look unruly amidst the chaos, I will wear my hair up with a pink sparkly hair clip I just found in Copenhagen.
MONICA KIM, Fashion News Editor
I recently pierced my ears (again) and am excited to stick these gorgeous Laura Lombardi brass hoops through them. This beaded faux fur number by Simone Rocha is the ideal statement scarf—so plush, will dress up any coat in a split second. I finally bought those absurd Balenciaga platforms, but will likely pick up this rubber-soled version from Unif in case it snows (yes, I wear platforms all winter). Finally, a structured black coat will keep things streamlined, and I love the clean look of this faux leather trench from We11Done, a favorite label of mine.

A week straight of running around the city? All I can say is a duster coat a day keeps the doctor away. I’ll be keeping cool while covering up in The Row and Brock Collection.
ZOE RUFFNER, Beauty Associate
This season, I’m planning to do winter right with warm clothing. (It’s sadly a first.) That means an Emma Brewin (faux!) fur hat, which reminds me of Upper East Side grandmas in all the right ways, a Saks Potts Febbe coat, and L.L.Bean silk long underwear. And of course my Céline Z necklace!
LIANA SATENSTEIN, Senior Fashion News Writer
I’m wearing these furry camo crocs for a story, but I actually have fallen in love with them on my own.
These warm, sweatproof socks from Hanes.
This isn’t the exact beanie, but I love Massachusetts and bought a great Boston beanie when I was back home recently, go Pats, RIP.
ANNY CHOI, Market Editor
Winter isn’t my season. So when I have to run around all day come February, I stick to what I know best: a great pair of jeans. Right now these Goldsign ones are my favorite, the straight fit and the stiff denim makes wearing white denim okay in the middle of winter. An oversize men’s button-down I scored from Uniqlo for just nine bucks, a pair of boots from The Row that basically go with every outfit, and a simple knit dress from La Ligne for any fancier events. My vintage furs are also on full rotation and of course, don’t forget your Mophie!
EMILY FARRA, Fashion News Writer
I wish I could wear my Khaite cashmere turtleneck every day! It’s my Fashion Week workhorse—realistically, I
ll probably wear it at least five times . . . plus a pair of great jeans (Citizens of Humanity are my favorite) and my trusty Jenni Kayne boots, which give me a boost of height (and confidence) but are still walkable. I tend to experiment more with accessories: I love my tortoise Machete earrings, and these Mizuki pearl earrings are at the top of my wish list.
