Now that collections are finished, it’s time to get back to regularly scheduled programming. For most of us, that means returning to a steady workout regime, not only to keep in shape but also, let’s face it, to blow off a little steam. We asked some of the fittest figures in fashion to share their routines.
Workout routine
“I do yoga at Mala Yoga and Yogasana Center in Brooklyn and bike to and from the office. If I’m upstate, then I do lots of hiking.”
Playlist
“When I’m biking, I like to listen to the streets of the city.”
Wardrobe
“For yoga, I wear sweatpants and a basic tank top or T-shirt. For biking, I wear Lululemon gear or anything comfortable.”
Fuel
“I always make my own smoothies at home with berries, banana, flax seeds, almonds, and almond milk. And sometimes I’ll grab a green juice from BluePrint.”

Workout routine
“A trainer/friend, Cliff Schmidt, encouraged me to get a ‘slide board’—a long plastic strip that you put on the floor and attach stoppers at each end. In speed-skater position, leaning your body forward, you use the strength of both arms together and one leg at a time to slide back and forth from left to right on the board. You can feel your stomach and outer arm muscles in addition to your outer leg muscles stretching to reach the stoppers on either side of you.”
Playlist
“Whatever the kids are playing or classic rock ’n’ roll like the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin. Maybe a little Gloria Gaynor or Foster the People.”
Wardrobe
“If I’m in my home, I wear anything (sometimes pajamas) but if I bring the slide board to the gym, I’ll wear my Isabel Marant vintage-looking football sweats and a tee.”
Fuel
“You can’t eat much before using the slide board. It’s a very ab-intensive work out. Afterward, I need something healthy like decaf green tea and slices of pineapple. And if I’m feeling good (or even if I’m not), I’ll break out the Peanut Butter M&M’s.”

Workout routine
“I would honestly rather do almost anything other than work out. But it’s amazing what a difference exercise makes in terms of my energy level and mental clarity. I get on the spinning bike to warm up and answer emails, make notes about design ideas, Google things I don’t know the answers to, and buy songs on iTunes. I also work out at Clay with Barbara Crean two to three times a week. She is basically a trainer, yoga instructor, Pilates instructor, nutritionist, homeopath, and therapist all wrapped into one.”
Playlist
“Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Florence and the Machine, Swedish House Mafia, Flo Rida, Rudimental, the Black Keys, and Macklemore
Ryan Lewis.”
Wardrobe
“My philosophy with working out is ‘Fake it till you make it,’ and wearing all black down to my ankle socks and sneaks aids in that endeavor. My ninja workout uniform is compliments of Lululemon or the Gap (they have amazing gym clothes) and Nike Free shoes.”
Fuel
“I drink a large coffee with half-and-half before, a large bottle of Smartwater during, and beQu green juice after. I am starving after I work out and try to avoid the bagel with extra cream cheese that I really want and opt for an egg wrap with turkey bacon instead—with normal eggs though, not egg whites.”

Workout routine
“I work out at Equinox and have a routine of weights, squats, mat exercises, and treadmill/elliptical. I also take their spin classes twice a week. My favorite is with Craig Hunter on Saturday mornings. But if I don’t make it out of bed in time to go to the gym, I do a mini workout at home—a combination of Tracy Anderson DVDs and squat and lunge variations.”
Playlist
“I love Kanye West, A$AP Rocky, and Rihanna.”
Wardrobe
“I wear a Hanes men’s cotton tank top and Hard Tail black pants.”
Fuel
“After my workout, I normally eat either oatmeal and berries or Greek yogurt, nuts, and berries.”

Workout routine
“I love to bike to work from home, which means crossing midtown, from the East River to the Hudson.”
Playlist
“I tend to not listen to my iPod when biking. You need to be able to hear everything on the streets.”
Wardrobe
“I always bike with a pair of Toms shoes as they are perfect to slip on and off, and they’re safe and comfortable. I often wear shorts or little sundresses—anything long will get caught in the chain. I also always wear a black leather spiked backpack from Perpetual Kid. I get stopped by cars all the time asking where I bought it.”
Fuel
“Whenever I bike to work, I usually crave a large meal at the end, that being breakfast or dinner. A typical breakfast is egg-white omelet with cheese and an orange juice. Dinner is for indulging and spoiling yourself.”

“I go to SoulCycle 3 times a week. When I can, I go to Body By Simone for private sculpting sessions.”
Playlist
“Being from California, I am a fan of West Coast rap. I also love to spin to Rihanna’s ‘Diamonds.’ ”
Wardrobe
“I honestly own 20 of the same black Lululemon racer-back tops. They hold everything in and don’t ride up during class. Same for the pants. Black cropped capris always, it’s my battle uniform.”
Fuel
“I always eat some form of protein, preferably egg whites with gluten-free toast. On my way to work, I stop at Juice Press for my favorite coconut water. Lunch is always light on spin days, normally consisting of the avocado toast or chicken hearts on palm salad from Café Gitane.”

Workout routine
“I do one of three things every morning before work: Gyrotonic class at Body Evolution, ballet classes at Steps on Broadway, or SoulCycle—something I never thought I would do and that is so far from what I would be doing in France.”
Playlist
“In Gyrotonic there is usually no music playing. For dance, always classical music. It is so nice to hear live piano. And I only go to the SoulCycle classes which are playing hip hop. I love them!”
Wardrobe
“I have a lot of leotards that I pair with thick socks and cashmere or wool wraps for Gyrotonic and dance. I get them from Repetto and Stanlowa in Paris. Sometimes I even wear an old Rykiel sweater to stay warm and Rykiel velour jogging pants on top of the tights. For SoulCycle, I keep the leotard and wear Lululemon leggings on the bottom. I love this brand, it doesn’t exist yet in France. It is so comfortable!”
Fuel
“My favorite is to eat dark chocolate squares before a workout, or peanut butter on a baked apple. Also it is very good to eat bananas afterward to avoid sore muscles (an old dancing tip). I drink a lot of water after, but never before or during the workout.”

“I try to go to Tracy Anderson four times a week. I love the feeling of working out really hard (although I complain the entire way through). It’s the only time of day where I have not a worry in the world and am completely focused on what I’m doing.”
Playlist
“Anything loud!”
