Later this week, the fifth season of Emily in Paris will make its highly-anticipated debut on Netflix—meaning an abundance of croissants, cafés, and French fashion will be arriving soon on the small screen. (Well, the new season is set in Rome, Italy actually—so maybe pasta and la dolce vita is more in order.)
This evening, the cast of the hit series made an appearance on the red carpet at the Paris premiere. Stars Lily Collins, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, and Ashley Park all hit the photo call as a well-clad trio—each of them embodying classic Hollywood glamour.
Collins wore a plunging Armani Privé number, while Park donned a red sweetheart gown by Dolce Gabbana. But it was Leroy-Beaulieu who served as a chic emblem of true French fashion: The French actor wore a black lace mini dress, complete with a long, sweeping train trimmed with ruffles. She paired it with sheer stockings, and a classic ankle-strap pump. Why does this feel so Parisian? Allow us to explain.
When we think of French fashion, a sense of subdued elegance comes to mind: Leroy-Beaulieu’s demure black lace feels true to Paris style, and the sense of refinement that goes along with it. Even with the racier hemline and skin-revealing sheerness, her silhouette still feels classic and timeless. She also carried around a faux fur coat like a pet, allowing it to drag on the floor. Everything is so effortless in Paris, non?
So, sure, the hit Netflix show may revolve around Emily—and Collins continuously steps up as a red carpet leading lady—but Leroy-Beaulieu is the true master of French dressing. She does, after all, have the home advantage. Her extremely cool, extremely polished red carpet outfit simply makes us want to hit up a late-night Paris bistro, and smoke some Vogues bites of bread and sips of wine. (Just kidding—do not smoke. Gross.)
