At last, spring has arrived in New York! More specifically, this past Monday, it arrived on Bleecker Street, in the form of a new, pop-up concept shop, Spring on Bleecker. The here today, gone tomorrow store—it runs through May 30—gathers together the collections of three female-run brands. There’s Annabelle Moehlmann’s Land of Belle, an online shop that hosts the occasional pop-up; the site sells the most luxe Murano glassware, Italian linens, and hand-painted Turkish ceramics. Then there’s Marlo Laz, the bohemian jewelry brand by Jesse Lazowski; you’ve likely seen her “eyecon” evil-eye cocktail rings on the fingers of cool girls about town. And the final brand is Rac Lifestyle, a roving pop-up-only store founded by Sabrina Burda and Noelle Pallais; their collection includes Maison Alma’s lushly printed jackets, Mi Alma’s summery sandals, and porcelain from Casa Carta.
It’s a shoppable wunderkammer for the fashion and design lover. Each brand has its own distinct compartment, but like roommates all hanging out with each other, it seems everyone has left a couple of things behind in the other’s space.
Last night, Spring on Bleecker was particularly photogenic with Kelly O’Hara’s PoppySeed Florals—fringed tulips, ranunculi, and dahlias, adding a bit of life to the space during a cocktail hour that served as the store’s official kick-off.
Guests circulated through the shop, wallpapered by Schumacher, sipping on cocktails. “It was so dark in here,” explained Lazowski, who recalled the previous tenant s leftover color story. “I chose this wallpaper in Marlo Laz-orange and brought in this Ettore Sottsass mirror—it’s going in my apartment after!” she admitted.
Everyone took in the retail delights, and some left with newly-acquired baubles, as Spring on Bleecker populated and the party moved onto the sidewalk. The weather was perfect, the sun was still up, and the opening provided a good excuse for a rosé enjoyed al fresco—‘tis the season, after all.
