Sarah Jessica Parker has spent the last year deep in intense preparation for one of her most important, culture-defining roles to date—a judge for the 2025 Booker Prize. Last night, part of the job saw SJP meet Queen Camilla at a reception hosted for the Booker at London’s Clarence House. As the Queen herself noted to Sarah Jessica, it’s “one of your many hats.”
“And the one I’m most proud of,” she replied. “It was thrilling, especially to be among this group, who are all extraordinary, smart and wise. We had such riches to discuss, and we are surrounded by such wonderful, exciting authors.”
The event, hosted by the royal herself, gathered the shortlisted authors, judges, and patrons for the prestigious literary prize. SJP was joined by chair Roddy Doyle, and other judges Chris Power, Ayobami Adebayo, and Kiley Reid. Of course, the Queen opted for an understated and elegant look, wearing a black midi dress with a white and black polka dot shirt (the enduringly on-trend print) underneath, paired with some black, slouchy suede boots—Sarah Jessica Parker followed a similarly sophisticated sartorial rhythm.
SJP wore a tea-length black dress with a flippy a-line skirt, and paired it with a matching black bolero that featured strong, puffy shoulders, and an opulent bejeweled cravat studded with blue, green, and pink sparkly florals. Her crystal embellished Sonia Rykiel bag (both a fave of Parker’s and her Sex and the City character Carrie Bradshaw) matched the colorful details of her dress, as did her plum tone pumps.
The pair were all smiles upon meeting, with SJP thanking the queen for having her. They matched in their polished black midis, with the blue Van Cleef bracelet on Queen Camilla’s wrist picking up the shades of SJP’s own jewels. As both Queen Camilla and Sarah Jessica Parker prove: accessories are an easy, sophisticated way to elevate any LBD.
Queen Camilla, of course, has had a busy week leading the somber Remembrance Day events alongside the rest of the Royal Family, including her husband King Charles, Prince William, and Kate Middleton (Catherine, Princess of Wales).
The previous evening, Parker hit the Booker Prize ceremony red carpet in a Bridgerton-esque, dark purple embroidered dress with a corseted waist—toting her top-handle, sequin-lined Fendi purse from the spring 2026 runway. While she was focused on the prestigious event, she inadvertently joined in on the ongoing wide open bag trend.
We’ll leave you with this question: is the Duchess of Cornwall, Queen Camilla, a Carrie?
