A west coast winter can be difficult to dress for, but if anyone knows how to do outerwear when out and about in West Hollywood, it’s Selena Gomez.
The Rare Beauty mogul and pop star headed out for friend Brooks Nader’s birthday dinner last night (February 8). She opted for a leather-dominant, all-black look: a buttery smooth jacket with a chin-grazing foldover lapel and a thick, waist-cinching belt, paired with cropped, split ankle cigarette pants, pointed pumps, and an oversized, elongated leather tote with long curved handles. (Anyone who’s suffered with a handbag constantly slipping off your shoulder when wearing a winter coat knows how crucial that detail is.) Gomez’s hair was pulled back into a low bun with a soft side parting, and she wore black oval sunglasses.
Monochromatic is a Selena Gomez calling card, who has fashioned a refined, ladylike sense of style over the years and established herself as an LBD devotee. She recently wore a black Magda Butrym flower-adorned blazer as a mini-dress to a Rare Beauty launch, and opted for a velvet black Chanel gown with a shock of white feathers at the bust to the 2026 Golden Globes, with husband Benny Blanco in a coordinating black tuxedo.
But where Gomez really shines? In her most laidback moments, and, when there’s a bit of a chill in the Los Angeles air so she can bust out her collection of jackets and knits. Think sleek and cool layers and quietly assured outerwear via Khaite, Toteme, Susanna Chow, and La Ligne. This soft structured leather jacket is just the latest mid-season star.
