When it comes to cold-weather dressing, I basically just want to swaddle myself in a blanket before leaving the house. I may be from Canada, but I do not love being chilly. That said, the one thing I do look forward to every year is busting out my collection of cozy knitwear. If I’m going to stay warm, I might as well look good doing it—and this season I particularly have my eye set on the new sweaters from Erdem, the luxury label based in London that just launched its first menswear collection for sale today. And trust me when I say: The pieces are good.
Erdem’s womenswear is known for its romantic floral prints and ruffled, shapely gowns. The menswear assortment, however, which was first shown back in June, is a little sleeker and more streamlined. Erdem took classic winter staples and gave them a modern update. The straight-leg trousers, for instance, are in rich burgundy and teal corduroy. There are great coats too, such as the double-breasted khaki trench that could be paired with literally everything, and fun accessories like the bucket hats, also made of corduroy.
The real winners for me, however, are the mohair and cashmere sweaters. The turtlenecks, cardigans, and sweater-vests are finished in fun colors like red and yellow, or stripes for a bit of retro appeal. They’re basically the perfect knits to bundle up in at home on a cold, snowy day, yet you’d still look very much put-together should you dare to leave the house.
