Add: “Hollywood bombshell ballgown” to the press tour wardrobe essentials list, care of Sydney Sweeney.
The actor is out on her press tour for her forthcoming film Echo Valley. Starring opposite Julianne Moore, Sweeney plays Moore’s daughter and addict Claire in a psychological thriller about how far a mother will go for their child.
“My character Claire is not the best daughter and she puts her mom through a lot,” Sweeney told Good Morning America.
Claire, she explained, “shows up covered in blood at her mother s doorstep.”
For last night’s premiere, Sweeney upped the drama in a different way, stepping out for the screening in the custom Vera Wang, scarlet red ballgown.
The crimson red, Italian silk gown features a flared crumb catcher neckline and hand draped peplum. Styled by Molly Dickson, she kept accessories minimal with a set of diamond Kwiat stud earrings. Her hair was worn in undone textured lengths that gave the look some light contrast by her go-to hairstylist Glen Oropeza.
Sweeney walked the carpet with co-stars Kyle MacLachlan and Moore, who play her parents.
Later, she changed out of the sweeping ballgown into a body enveloping, strapless corset dress in that similar show-stopping red shade, with stiletto pumps to match.
While celebrity society seems to have evolved past the most literal musings of method dressing on press tours, Sweeney and Dickson intelligently play with the concept of the scarlet woman with these dramatic, crimson looks. Reaching? Maybe I am, but it works. Rip-roaring red for a psychological thriller starlet.
Still, Sydney Sweeney and Dickson have proved themselves pro at producing a thoughtful and varied press tour wardrobe. This week, Sweeney stepped out in nautical-esque Coperni, a ladylike Burberry trench dress, a pantsless suit and tie combo via Jean Paul Gaultier fall winter 2005, and more silky power suiting by Oscar de la Renta. She means business!
