In these uncertain times, the concept of a convertible shoe is most appealing, and in his collection for Repetto, Karl Lagerfeld has, quite possibly, created the perfect pair. Repetto has a long history of supplying ballet shoes to the world’s most famous dancers (like the late Rudolf Nureyev) and, drawing on that tradition, Lagerfeld designed each shoe with a removable “tutu skirt” that instantly transforms the look—from fierce to more simple and flirtatious—and he offers it up in both a flat sandal and a high-heel version. The sought-after shoes, which made their debut at Karl Lagerfeld s Spring 2009 collection, hit the shops this Thursday and are available in black, white, and navy.
