Inside Pro Athlete A ja Wilson’s First Paris Fashion Week

Given that the worlds of fashion and sport continue to intertwine—virtually every front row is filled with top athletes these days—it may be shocking to learn that last week marked basketball pro A ja Wilson’s first time attending the shows in Paris. The Las Vegas Aces center made her debut in the City of Light by taking in the new fall 2025 mens collections, at shows such as KidSuper, Doublet, and Sacai—and invited Vogue along for all of the fashion fun.
“I was thrilled to immerse myself in the fashion world,” Wilson says. “Paris holds a special place in my heart. I was here a few months ago and won an Olympic gold medal in this city, so returning brings back wonderful memories. And now experiencing fashion week adds another exciting layer.” Whereas her last trip to the city was filled with practice and competition, this one was all about style. “It’s an incredible opportunity to witness the creative visions of designers come to life through their clothing and runway presentations,” says Wilson, who always makes time to see the sights when she is in town. “The iconic Eiffel Tower is a must see when I come to Paris. It s hard to miss, but witnessing it sparkle at night is truly magical. I adore the city s fast paced atmosphere—and exquisite food!”
Wilson’s highlights as she navigated the front rows for the first time? “The Doublet show was super dope,” says Wilson, who gravitated towards the dark, edgy suiting looks. Visiting with friends and peers was another treat. “I had the pleasure of dining at Siena with some amazing Nike athletes,” she says.
Of course, given this was PFW, Wilson had to bring forward some of her own standout looks. As a VIP guest, she felt the pressure to deliver a statement wardrobe all week long—and totally delivered. “I aimed to wear something that stood out and made a statement, while also giving me that comfort and pop of confidence,” says Wilson. “I tried to give a little high fashion, while also showing my personal style with things like crop tops, asymmetrical skirts and sneakers—staying true to who I am.”
The star says she defines her personal style as comfortable, yet chic, so her PFW looks struck that balance. She sported a structured two-piece set with a plushy fur coat, and an oversized skirt suit with chunky combat boots. “I loved the Sacai oversized fringed blazer [I wore,]” Wilson says of one of her favorite looks. She also nailed Parisian dressing by pairing a khaki trench coat with baggy cream trousers. “Lately, I’ve been gravitating toward bell-bottom wide-legged pants,” says Wilson. “They re really flattering and accentuate the length of my legs.”
Wilson totally fit in with the fashionable A-list crowd during the week. But now, it’s time to focus on preparing for game day again. “In the coming month, I ll be training, as I prepare for my eighth WNBA season,” says Wilson. “Getting ready to chase another championship title!” She does, however, have a few fashion-minded projects in the works (she can’t totally leave her fashion identity behind.) “My first signature shoe and apparel collection with Nike is dropping this spring,” she teases, “and I m excited to share that with everyone!” We can’t wait.
