This Couple Married Surrounded by Hundreds of Blooming Rose Bushes at Their Montecito Wedding
Scott Kellman first slid into Allison Taylor’s DMs during the pandemic. “Instagram never appealed to him, but he decided to download it in an effort to put himself out there,” Allison, the cofounder of the cult skin-care brand Le Prunier, remembers. “I was living in LA at the time, and he was in New York.”
A close mutual friend, Lauren Taylor, vouched for him when Allison reached out to her for intel, and after six months of long-distance texts and calls, they finally decided to meet somewhere in the middle. Aspen was the established halfway point.
“I stayed at the St. Regis, which ended up being the location of our first date,” Allison recalls. “We met in the lobby for drinks, sat by the fire talking for hours, and I think we both knew pretty immediately. What was supposed to be a three-day trip turned into a full week.”
Scott likes to joke with Allison that he booked the proposal venue exactly three months after meeting her, but that he exercised admirable strength by waiting a year to pop the question. “Early on in our relationship, he took me on a date to Pine Creek Cookhouse—we snowshoed a few miles to the restaurant, and under the clearest night sky, I remember telling him I had never seen so many stars,” Allison says. “It was so beautiful.” Cut to precisely a year later from the day they met, and Scott got down on one knee and proposed on that same trail. When they reached the restaurant, he had managed to get 40 of their nearest and dearest from around the world there to surprise Allison. “I was so blown away,” she remembers. “That night was unbelievably fun and memorable.”
Their wedding was held on September 13, 2025, in Montecito, California. The festivities began on Friday evening at Bellosguardo, a historic estate overlooking the Santa Barbara coastline. “Our dear friend Lily Hahn Shining had just finished commissioning the renovation of the property’s greenhouse and generously offered the venue for the evening,” Allison explains. “We loved that it felt like we were somewhere in the South of France—sans the nine-hour flight.”
The wedding on Saturday took place at San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito. “When we first met, Scott had never taken a proper California road trip, so we drove up the coast, and I suggested a few stops—San Ysidro Ranch was among them,” Allison explains. “We had dinner on the lower patio under the bougainvillea, and he fell in love instantly. We even discussed wanting to get married there, so returning to finally celebrate our marriage felt beautifully full circle.”
The planning process was a journey, with a few unexpected delays along the way—but once they were introduced to event planners Smith James, everything fell into place. “They were an absolute dream to work with and brought our vision to life beautifully,” Allison says. Their ultimate goal was for their guests to enjoy themselves and feel completely cared for throughout the weekend. “As someone who had never spent much time imagining what my wedding might look like growing up, the weekend ended up feeling so perfectly us,” Allison notes. “Elegant, authentic, a bit rustic, and filled with so much love. It was better than we could’ve ever imagined.”
The bride tried on countless dresses on her own in the lead-up to the wedding to get a sense of the style and shape she was looking for initially. She knew she wanted something that felt classic yet elegant, and simple with clean lines. After enlisting the help of stylist Gabrielle Hurwitz, she visited Danielle Frankel. “I think it was the first or second dress I tried on there, but we knew immediately,” Allison says. “I loved the timeless, elegant silhouette and made it my own by adding subtle lace to the bodice and designing a custom lace jacket to accentuate the shoulders.”
She found her second look—a vintage silk John Galliano for Christian Dior gown—from Happy Isles in New York. “I fell in love with the gorgeous fringe sash around the waist, which added a bit of romanticism and felt destined for a Montecito wedding,” Allison explains. “Growing up on a farm in northern California, I’ve always loved Ralph Lauren, so I knew I wanted to wear something of his for Friday evening.”
For the after-party, she wanted something unexpected, so she chose a pink Mini Ivy dress with a traditional corset by Wiederhoeft. “It was fully hand-embroidered with metallic glass-cut beads,” Allison explains. “And completely insane in the best way. I was obsessed.” Lastly, she and Gabrielle found an incredible vintage 1930s peignoir and nightgown that the bride wore to get ready in and served as her “something blue.”
Allison rarely wears makeup and wanted to feel like herself on her wedding day, so Kate Synnott created a beautifully minimal, glowy look. “Ruslan gave me the waves of my dreams on Friday,” Allison remembers. “And we opted for a low bun on Saturday because I have so much hair and wanted it out of my face. Both Ruslan and Kate were lovely to work with and brought such a calm, positive energy to the day, which I was really grateful for.”
Allison’s overall goal was to keep things timeless, which informed her approach to jewelry as well—simple, elegant pieces that complemented rather than overwhelmed. She wore a pair of chandelier earrings on Friday and chose classic diamond studs for the ceremony, both from Material Good. “For my other looks, I paired a diamond pendant and chandelier necklace,” she says. “They were both gifted by my parents, which was especially meaningful.”
Scott’s wardrobe was infinitely easier for the couple to navigate. “We had a lot of fun choosing his looks at Bergdorf with Gabrielle,” Allison notes. “On Friday, he wore a Brunello Cucinelli sports coat paired with Loro Piana trousers and suede loafers. For Saturday, I loved being part of the process of picking out his tux—he ultimately chose a Tom Ford tuxedo and later changed into a white Tom Ford dinner jacket after the ceremony. He looked so handsome.”
The ceremony began on Saturday afternoon. “It felt like a surreal dream set beneath the Santa Ynez Mountains,” Allison says. “A church choir welcomed guests to the rose gardens as they sang ‘Down to the River to Pray,’ and as our family walked the aisle, a string quartet and mandolin played ‘Going to California’ by Led Zeppelin. I remember hearing that song from afar as I waited, and it still gives me chills. Scott and I have always shared a deep love for music, especially the classics and early ’80s and ’90s, so we had the best time picking out songs for the weekend.”
