The first night, the dress code called for summer cocktail looks accented with a hat of one’s choosing. “We like themes that can be dressed up, be silly, and that allow you to wear outfits you feel good in,” Babba says. “Hat creations ranged from wedding cakes to a modern take on vintage Chanel bow hats.” Meanwhile, Babba worked with her stylist, Rebecca Alaniz, to come up with mostly all-white looks for the entire weekend, using Mytheresa as her main source.

On Friday, dinner was served in the main dining room of the hotel. Between courses, Toast Master (the Swedish equivalent of an MC) Linn Livijn Wexell introduced speakers who shared silly and heartwarming stories about the couple and what they’d been through over the past two years together. “For the finale, both of us were asked to share a few words with one another,” Babba says. “This was probably one of our personal highlights from the weekend as it gave us the chance to repeat some of our vows and remind each other why we’re so lucky to have found one another.”

Afterward, both Babba and Carl were, understandably, a bit emotionally drained—but as the dinner wrapped up, they were able to switch gears and invite guests to the community house across from the garden. The beautiful old building had been transformed into a karaoke club, and shots were served with Swedish candy as everyone sang their hearts out late into the night.

The next day, guests chose between a kayaking expedition along the nearby islands, volleyball, tennis, yoga, sauna, running or power walking—each activity led by another guest who was an enthusiast. “This is one of the hacks we brought with us from our wedding: engage your friends for everything from activities to DJ’ing to explaining how to eat Swedish crayfish,” Babba says. “People get way more excited about showing up and giving it their all when it’s a friend that gets to flex their expertise, whatever it might be.”
