Danielle Sherman and Todd Selby’s Los Angeles Wedding

Here Todd and I are seeing each other for the first time on our wedding day. This photo was captured at the Palihouse in Santa Monica on their front lawn. It was taken from the top floor of the hotel. These are our wedding rings on leftover fabric from my wedding dress. I had designed my ring (far right) with a very gifted friend, jeweler and precious stones expert Patrizia di Carrobio. Patrizia sourced the rose-cut diamonds from a precious gem show and worked with a local jeweler in New York to make the ring. I had worked with a very talented florist, forager, and plant and flower aficionado, Louesa Roebuck, to design a delicate bouquet of passion vine interlaced with a few rare and foraged orchids. I tend to like arrangements that have more movement and ease. I dyed these Manolo Blahnik slingbacks to match the slight off-white color of my dress. I like how the toe on these shoes is slightly round and the design is very classic. I do not like to show my toes when in a formal setting. I think I inherited this trait from my grandma! It meant a lot to us that they both were able to share this special day with us, our family, and closest friends. I designed the dress and was very fortunate to have the Edun atelier make it come to life. We worked with one of my favorite Italian mills, Clerici Tessuto, and had specially ordered their double-structured silk satin fabric. The finishing of the fabric was really unique in that the fabric provided the structure needed to create the shape and design of the dress but also had movement. The dress was finished with three-eighths of an inch of fringe around the train and throughout the seams of the dress. Todd and I in the carport getting married by my sister who was our officiant. My sister, Lauren Winnick, reading us our vows. Our ceremony could not have more unique and intimate. She did an incredible job. There were many laughs and many tears were shared during the ceremony. Todd calls our pond "frog pond" since we have wild tree frogs that chirped during the ceremony at the most opportune time. “The Spicy Turtle" drink concocted by Pharmacie’s Talmadge Lowe served with our custom watercolored D + T napkin. The Spicy Turtle is made with vodka, chiles, lime, and beer, and reminds us of one of our favorite cocktails served at Hartwood in Tulum, Mexico. Some of the coolest dudes at the party: The Mattson 2, who performed music during the ceremony and celebrated with all of us after. Todd and I cracking up as my dad sang “A Song For My Daughter" by Ray Allaire. I was full of tears and laughter during his song and speech—all of which was very touching and memorable. Todd and I celebrating together on our top porch as we look below at the party. Todd and I danced to Kanye West’s song “Only One.” We managed to rock this somehow even though we only had practiced a few times. Todd and I dancing as the "Hava Nagila" is played by DJ Smiles. At this point, Todd changed into his iridescent Nike kicks. Todd and I walking on the beach the day after our wedding. We celebrated with everyone at our favorite brunch spot, Malibu Farm, on the pier in Malibu. The two of us having a moment at the end of the pier overlooking the water. The last hurrah captured as we leave Malibu Farm to go get ready for our midnight flight to Bora Bora for our honeymoon.
