Doechii Taps Into “Modern Goddess Energy” at the 2026 Grammys
Can you believe it’s only been a year since Doechii arrived at her first-ever Grammys with four custom Thom Browne looks, an army of backup dancers, and a new track at the ready to celebrate her win? Tonight, at the 2026 Grammys, the 27-year-old rapper returns with another five nominations for her song “Anxiety”—including song of the year and record of the year. “It feels great to be back,” Doechii tells Vogue ahead of the awards show. “This year [it] feels familiar in the best way, and I’m grateful for that.”
While she isn’t performing tonight, Doechii—who, last year, became the third-ever woman to win best rap album—will still take the stage as a presenter. “I meditate throughout glam,” she says of her pre-Grammys routine. “The candle is lit, music is on, and we get settled. This is so important because it sets the day.” It’s safe to say the morning meditation to Natanya proved successful: she already claimed the Grammy for best music video before she hit the carpet.
As for the look itself, Doechii, whose wide fashion remit includes everything from Louis Vuitton shorts to Valentino couture gowns, likes to play it all by ear. “The glam today helped decide the final looks,” she says. In the end, she wound up choosing a custom Roberto Cavalli dress inspired by the brand’s archive from the late nineties through early aughts: a sheer burnt orange lace-up top with an eggplant bodice that flowed behind her in a voluminous, tiered train.
It’s a markedly different look than the four Thom Browne looks she wore last year. With a new album in the works Doechii wanted to use the look to reflect her new moment. “I was going for boho glamour entering a new era—fresh, earthy, and grounded,” she says. “A modern goddess energy.”
She kept that energy inside the Crypto.com Arena. To present best rap album alongside Queen Latifah, Doechii changed into a custom look from Givenchy by Sarah Burton: a Death Becomes Her-inspired chandelier top which references Burton’s fall 2025 collection, paired with a voluminous raspberry-colored ball skirt that nods to spring 2026.
Spontaneity is the name of the game this evening. As for her post-awards show plans? Doechii—as well as her team and family, who are along for the ride tonight—are going to “[see] where the night takes us.”
