Picture Postcards from Capri: Mytheresa and Dolce Gabbana Celebrate Their Newest Capsule Collection

Under a canopy of citrus, Dolce Gabbana and Mytheresea toasted their latest capsule collection, this time inspired by the many wonders of Capri. “We make life very hard…last year it was Portofino, the year before it was Miami, and now Capri,” Mytheresea CEO Michael Kliger said as guests took their seats at the lemon-laden Da Paolino restaurant. “I’m so thankful to Dolce Gabbana for the fantastic capsule. It’s the eighth capsule we’ve done with them and it gets better and better—this one is the best one, of course!”

The collection, which launched exclusively on Mytheresa on May 1, feels like a postcard from Capri: scenes of the Faraglioni cliffs and iconic plazas are painted onto crop tops, mini skirts, shirt dresses, breezy blouses, palazzo pants, and jaunty head scarves. (Nods to the area’s world-famous lemon groves, meanwhile, are more subtle: note the tarte au citron-colored cardigans and tunics, the latter splashed with starfishes.) Many of these tableaux are framed by a border of black-and-white polka dots, adding some bygone holiday glamor—while also keeping it all classic D&G.

“We do something different each time,” noted Richard Johnson, Mytheresea’s chief commercial officer. “But because we’ve been doing it each year, it’s become a bit of a celebration each summer.”

And celebrate they did: On Monday, D&G and Mytheresea ferried in their fabulous friends and family for a night of dinner and dancing. The festivities began, naturally, with a cocktail hour at Bar Tiberio, located in the heart of the Piazza Umberto. The outdoor taverna was decked out in D&G: aquamarine pillows with the brand’s signature under-the-sea motif lined the cafe chairs, and guests—dressed head-to-toe in the Capri collection—sipped on glasses of aperol spritz. Keeping things wonderfully in-scene, White Lotus star Beatrice Granno held court at a table alongside actress Alice Pagani.

As the sun began to set over the Tyrrhenian Sea, guests were escorted to dinner via a romantic drive along the winding roads of Capri. The famed Da Paolino, situated in a lemon-tree filled garden, was a sumptuous picture-setting for the event, with long wooden tables topped by bowls of softball-sized lemons and long-stemmed candles lining the private terrace. Poppy Delevingne could be seen mingling with German socialite Leonie Hanne as a trio of musicians serenaded the crowd.

On the menu was an ideal Italian feast: a truly giant ball of burrata (the sight of which immediately sent phones aloft) which was later sliced into a caprese salad, followed by plates of pillowy lemon ravioli. And for dessert, there was a special surprise: a three-foot-long strawberry fagioli cake festooned with sparklers. Italian standards played, bringing everyone to their feet—and eventually forming a conga line that snaked throughout the dining room.

A rendition of “That’s Amore” was the final number, but the night was far from over; the party moved on to late-night drinks and dancing at the nightclub Anema E Core—a perfect note to cap off this Caprese holiday.
