For the wedding day, the bride wore Danielle Frankel. “I loved the textured fabric, which reminded me of ocean waves, and I customized it by adding straps to make it exactly how I wanted,” she shares. “It felt light, airy, and perfect for Hawaiian black tie.” Hope decided she didn’t want to wear exclusively white, so she swapped her look at the reception to a floral-print Johanna Ortiz gown. “It was less classic but very me,” she says. “I bought it just two weeks before the wedding, and it turned out to be the perfect party dress for the reception.” For her after-party look, Hope designed a custom Clio Peppiatt mini dress with their team, featuring celestial sun and moon motifs as well as Hawaiian details. “To make every look even more meaningful, I paired them with jewelry from my mom and grandmother, which completed the outfits and made them extra special," she says. Meanwhile, for his wedding look, Sam kept it classic in a Ralph Lauren Purple Label tuxedo, black Belgian loafers, and a gold 1960s Audemars Piguet watch with a black alligator band.

The couple spent their wedding morning separately getting ready with their wedding parties, planning to first see each other when Hope headed down the aisle. Guests gathered at a large lawn overlooking a black sand beach as they waited for the ceremony to begin. “The second I saw Sam, I was just so excited," remembers Hope. “I was speed walking down the aisle, and my dad had to remind me to slow down because I couldn’t wait to be up there with him. I almost kissed him the second I reached the end out of instinct.” The couple exchanged vows they wrote themselves and “there wasn’t a dry eye in the house,” says the bride. “It was one of the best moments of my life.”

As guests headed to cocktail hour, the newlyweds took photos as the sun began to set. The bride and groom then joined their guests for the reception, a grand outdoor space inspired by a “jetset dinner party” complete with a stage for their band shaped like a giant shell. “At the reception, we had our first dance to ‘Right Down the Line’ by Gerry Rafferty, a song we always dance to together in our kitchen,” shares the bride. “We heard incredible speeches, danced the night away with our amazing band, and ended the evening with an impromptu pool party at the after-party. We stayed up all night celebrating with our people—it was unforgettable.”

The couple reflects: “It was the best moment of our lives so far, and we love knowing that Kona Village will always be a special place for us to return to. I wish we could go back already!”
