This Week in Images: Gigi Hadid Covers Vogue and a Snowstorm Hits New York
As part of a new series on Vogue, we’ll be documenting the images that best encapsulate the week past—through our own archive as well as pictures fresh off the runway.
This week began with a Nor’easter blowing over 17 inches of snow over New York City and much of the northeast. While the snow is now receding, it was a wonderful, wintry escape if you were lucky enough to be able to go out and enjoy it—maybe on a sled or cross country skis. Following an all-virtual Couture week, Vogue’s community on Instagram banded together for the #VogueCouchCouture challenge, recreating the best looks from Couture shows past and present. Only the ingenious can fashion a facsimile of a Valentino gown at home.
Gigi Hadid celebrated her sixth American Vogue cover this week. As a result, we’re feeling a bit nostalgic, and wanted to look back on one of our favorite past photos of her, as well as the new images from Ethan James Green. Also this week, we celebrated the life of Chadwick Boseman, who was posthumously nominated for a Golden Globe award for his performance in Ma Rainey s Black Bottom. And finally, it wouldn’t be a Super Bowl Sunday without reminiscing on our favorite football image in Vogue, from Irving Penn. See the five images of the week below.
