With Help From Zoë Kravitz, Jessica McCormack Fêted Her Diamonds at The Frick Collection

From Mayfair to Madison: London jeweler Jessica McCormack marked the arrival of her first international flagship with a sparkling takeover of The Frick Collection, swapping any notion of stuffiness for irreverent glamour—day diamonds, card games, and a “come as you are” mood included. “This building is so beautiful. The Frick is all about collecting, and I love collecting.” Omitting any strict dress code, the invitation encouraged guests to come as they were. “That’s exactly what I want people to do with their jewelry,” McCormack added, though her own look—bejeweled with a radiant sapphire necklace from The Tempest collection—set a dazzling standard.
Most brides-to-be and diamond lovers alike know the four Cs—cut, color, clarity, carat. McCormack argues for a fifth: comfort. Inside the Frick, silver trays of caviar-topped Pringles made the rounds (perhaps a first for the museum’s storied halls). Chicken nuggets arrived in tidy cups with mini pipettes of mustard; cheese toasties, cut into bite-size squares and served sans crust, vanished by the dozen. Decks of bespoke playing cards were scattered on highboys beneath flickering candelabras.
Inspired by the bronze frogs tucked around the Frick’s fountains, McCormack created whimsical ceramic versions of her own, each adorned with jewels as an homage to the space. A line wrapped around the pillars for a vintage funfair game, “Frog or Fortune,” where guests tried their hand at dealing the lucky card for a chance at Jessica McCormack diamonds. “Is this the frog game queue?” one guest from across the pond quipped. And somehow, beneath the museum’s grand proportions and the twinkle of immaculate stones, the evening felt like celebrating a friend in a cozy London flat.
Laura Dern and her daughter, Jaya, sauntered in—fresh from the Ralph Lauren show and ready to add day diamonds to their ensembles. When Shailene Woodley and Zoë Kravitz arrived, the trio linked hands in a triangle. “It’s the Liars!” a guest exclaimed, clocking the Big Little Lies reunion. Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Mustafa the Poet made lazy loops through select open galleries. Phoebe Tonkin, Olivia Palermo, Nicky Hilton Rothschild, and Sabrina Elba greeted McCormack with kisses on both cheeks before tucking into slices of fan-favorite princess cake layered with sweet marzipan, strawberry, and whipped cream.
Bartenders poured Veuve Clicquot and cucumber fizz cocktails, so when it came time to toast, Kravitz was already glass in hand. “Hiiiii!” she sang into the mic, loosening the room. Remembering her first visit to McCormack’s London townhouse, she said, “I walked into the store and I thought, ‘this is not a store, this is a universe.’ It was a [redacted] vibe. The townhouse felt familiar and like a place I’d never been before—much like the jewelry.” Soon after, COVID struck and everything shut down; the two became fast friends, bonding over champagne and jewels.
“She gave me a little feeling of home when I was so far away,” Kravitz recalled. “So now I’m happy to welcome her to my home. Welcome to New York, Jessica—my favorite city just got a little more sparkly.”
