We worked with calligrapher and illustrator Stephanie Fishwick to design our save-the-dates and wedding invitations. The botanical crest she created became a motif for the rest of the wedding materials including our ceremony program. I wanted to represent the different flora and fauna of the property in New Hampshire, so she included ferns, wildflowers, grasshoppers, dragonflies, and otters.

My wedding dress designer, Thakoon Panichgul, was one of the first people I met in fashion when we were both working at Harper’s Bazaar. He has known me through all my different phases of life and love and was the only person I considered for this. I wanted something light and airy, but that still had gravitas—modern but classic and yet totally and unmistakably me. It was a tall order, but it could not have come out more perfectly.

Michael proposed to me with this cushion-cut diamond with a sapphire halo and oxidized platinum band, so when discussing my eternity band with jewelry designer and friend Soraya Silchenstedt, I wanted to play back to the same aesthetic. We chose bands of emeralds, aquamarines, and sapphires to represent my, Michael, and our son, Luca’s birthstones, and on the inside is inscribed “Dance Me to the End of Love,” the Leonard Cohen song Michael and I had our first dance to.

Alexa Rodulfo has been doing my hair and makeup for years and has become a good friend, which is a calming presence when you’re hours away from one of the biggest moments in your life. I wanted something uncomplicated and easy that I could count on lasting all night without touch-ups. She made me feel like the best version of myself.

Thakoon finishing the ribbons on my arms, he could only sew them once I was in the dress so they wouldn’t fall over the course of the evening. When I got to the church, I had Thakoon come back out to take one final look at me and give the green light to start the ceremony.
