I wanted a wedding dress that wouldn’t make me feel decorated like a Christmas tree (no beading, no poof), but still had some drama and romance. I went to an exhausting number of bridal boutiques in the city, hunted down vintage and still found nothing. One of my last stops was Vera Wang. I didn’t think she made sleeker silhouettes, but with the help of my dear friends Sara and Alice, we found this elegant dress that fit my body perfectly and felt like a second skin.

My mom, Robin, and sister Cade, helped me dress.

I was shooting a commercial in Italy and the producer and I took some time out to shop and we found these great shoes at Prada. I liked how they added a modern twist to my classic dress and appreciated their sturdiness and comfort. My family is entirely women (I have lesbian moms), but we all have our own taste in shoes, or rather, I have my own taste in shoes. My moms wore the same shoes!

My wedding ring was made by Mociun. My friend Thessaly suggested them and my engagement ring was vintage, so this was a chance to make something fresh and new that would pair well with my existing ring. The wooden box was from my childhood. I used to keep my baby teeth inside it.

It was important to me that the crown be somewhat delicate because I didn’t want to have a flower circus on my head like the Chiquita Banana lady. Allie Webber and Liz Castelli from Tinsel Twine did a great job with this piece. I found the ribbons in the back sexy in a French schoolgirl kind of way.
