She’s in the Glow Annie Atkinson’s Wedding in Tulsa

Happy Menocal created our wedding suite. Meeting with her in her adorable Brooklyn studio and having her bring my vision to life was such an incredible process. I love the way that she designed the zigzagging green garden of Philbrook Museum. The color palette for the wedding was like this ethereal pink explosion—but done in a sophisticated way. My wedding planner, Ashley Farthing, encouraged me to incorporate natural elements like moss and green vines into the scheme. Outside of the museum, Toni’s Flowers filled these oversize urns with garden roses in a variety of dusty color pinks. It was so special to be at my parents’ home with all of my bridesmaids and my family on the day of the wedding. My “something blue” was my late grandmother’s aquamarine stone that I had Soraya Silchenstedt redesign. It was so nice to have a little part of her with me on my wedding day. My engagement ring is from Kwiat. Under my gown, I wore these silver sequin Chanel sandals. It was quite fitting as my first job was at Chanel. Soraya Silchenstedt also created the most delicate earrings that I gave to all my bridesmaids, which were these tiny rose gold bars with four ombré pink sapphire stones. They symbolized the ombré effect of my bridesmaids walking down the aisle. I couldn’t hide the happiness. I loved that my mom and I decided on my dress together. It was two parts: a lace form-fitting dress and then this crazy ostrich feather skirt. I listened to my dad growing up, and I never had my ears pierced but Kwiat let me borrow these diamond clip-on earrings. A happy moment. My sister with a few bridesmaids and the flower girls. My dashing husband. My mom is so beautiful and happy! She wore this unreal midnight blue Oscar de la Renta gown with pink appliqué flowers that tied into the pink theme. We wanted to give my two nieces a mission in order to get them down the aisle successfully, so my planner, Ashley, and I thought this oversize pink balloon would keep them busy. Lola, the oldest, was supposed to take Charlotte’s hand. In the end, my brother-in-law had to carry Charlotte down, and as you can see, she was mesmerized by the balloon. Lola soaking up the limelight. The decision to put the veil over my face was totally last minute. It was my dad's idea. After reminding me that Grace Kelly wore her veil the same way, my friend Jennifer Battistello said, "Annie, you're getting married and you just have to own it." As my dad walked me down the aisle he started telling me how much he and my mom love me, and I almost broke down in tears. My bridesmaid Beth Garrabrant watching the procession. Ashley and I wanted to give the guests the feeling of being inside this colorful Champagne glass, so we decorated the ceiling with oversize pastel balloons that mirrored the color pallet of the flowers and my bridesmaids. On either side of the stage were two floral walls that turned into the perfect selfie backdrop for many of the guests. I was thrilled with the way the floral arrangement turned out. Upon my request, he added in edible flowers, too, wherever he could. A bridesmaid’s bouquet on the table. At our head table, we sat the bridal party and their partners. I think that this was the best dinner of my entire life. I’m sure that every bride says the same thing, but our cake by Andrea Howard was the best ever. I had guests who were on their fourth pieces, and I still have friends telling me how good it was. Our band came all the way from Atlanta. Just look at this picture. It says everything.
