Taylor Hill Hosted a Cozy Holiday Dinner for Ralph Lauren at the Polo Bar

The invitation to Taylor Hill’s soirée for Ralph Lauren, in green cursive, asked guests to come celebrate the “holiday season.” And upon walking into the private room at the Polo Bar, it became clear no festive expense was spared: the table was adorned with red amaryllis, ranunculus, and peony tulips, all lit with the soft glow of what felt like a million candles. Wool throw blankets were artfully strewn. The place settings were the brand’s red-green-and-blue plaid plates and warm gold flatware. The whole thing just felt so…cozy.

It was an intimate—and family—affair. Taylor brought along her siblings, Chase and Mackinley Hill, who sat beside in cozy Ralph Lauren knits. The model herself wore their velvet tuxedo jacket, a Polo Bear sweater, and an incredible smokey eye. (Look at that picture! Shadow perfection!) Princess Olympia of Greece, Princess Mafalda Saxe Coburg of Bulgaria, and Daphne Groeneveld also came to celebrate and chatted animatedly the whole evening. About what, you may ask? With such a close-knit group, conversation topics were far and wide—holiday and New Year’s plans, Maurizio Cattelan’s Art Basel banana.

The dinner began with a lavish seafood platter: oysters, clams, jumbo shrimp, and stone crab claws, set down for everyone to share. Then it was onto the first course of either the restaurant’s signature crab cake, salad, or chestnut soup. For the main course, there were four delicious options—but the most popular? The burger—perhaps the best-known item at the Polo Bar.

After a hefty serving of chocolate or coconut cake (or for those not bothered by the winter temperature, an ice cream sundae), it was time for the group to say their goodbyes. But if they wanted to keep the holiday spirit going, the Rockefeller Tree was only a few blocks away.
