Was Usher’s Met Gala 2024 After-Party the Place to Be? Ye-Ah!
About an hour after the 2024 Met Gala guests departed the Metropolitan Museum of Art (going out the same way they came in—those iconic red carpet stairs!), the fun was just beginning. The Met Gala after-parties were unfolding and rumored to be the party of the night was Usher’s “Secret Garden” invite, which brought out the best of New York in more ways than one.
The Times Square Edition set the scene by going green. The luxury hotel by legendary Studio 54 co-founder Ian Schrager, remained true to the Met Gala’s “The Garden of Time” theme. Lush foliage could be found at every turn, quite literally bringing to life the concrete jungle of New York under the electric billboard glow of Times Square.
To fend off the midnight cravings, New York City faves whipped up by Chef John Fraser were passed around. Hotdogs, burgers, and softserve ice cream were always within reach along with fresh cocktails prepared with Volcan Tequila and Belvedere Organic, or Whispering Angel Rose.
While the official invite informed guests of a 10:00 p.m. start time, the party truly didn’t start until Usher arrived alongside his wife, Jennifer Goicoechea. The “OMG” singer and songwriter could be seen dancing with guests as his mid-2000s hit, “Good Kisser,” boomed from the speakers. A-Listers abound, Naomi Campbell, Janelle Monae, Erykah Badu, Coco Rocha, Taraji P. Henson, Queen Latifa, Ne-Yo, Dwayne Wade, and Gabrielle Union were all in attendance.
Time lost all meaning as heavy bass thumps from Mos and D-Nice filled the cool night air. At 3:00 a.m. the party was far from over as guests danced well into the dawn.
