Wardrobe.NYC’s Christine Centenera Welcomed Guests to Her New Home for an Intimate Dinner With Ruth Negga and Katie Holmes

“As the dinner will be held at Christine’s private residence, the address will be shared on confirmation,” the invite stated for Christine Centenera and Josh Goot’s Wardrobe.NYC dinner celebrating their brand’s fifth collection drop, which has a focus on tailoring. A little bit of intrigue goes a long way as guests cheerfully poured into Centenera’s stunning new Noho loft on an otherwise gloomy evening.

Upon arrival, friends of the brand including Ruth Negga, Katie Holmes, Sarah Snook, Dion Lee, and Leandra Medine were welcomed into Centenera’s chef’s kitchen, resplendent with copper pots and rustic wooden dishes offering up charcuterie, homemade lavash bread, and fresh figs to guests. Behind them, an elegant table for 40 was set in the vast living room, topped with candles and chic white bud vases Centenera and Goot arranged themselves. The fashionable crowd sipped on lemon hibiscus margaritas as the room buzzed about with conversation about holiday plans, the recent pre-fall and upcoming show season, and most importantly, with praise for the duo’s newest tailoring drop.

“I really love what Christine and Josh are doing, so I feel like this is a cool holiday look for the city. And I always like to throw a little red in there to be festive,” Katie Holmes shared, remarking on her own wintertime style. Centenera agreed that both she and her clients like to mix and match the wardrobes, incorporating their personal style into the classics that Wardrobe.NYC offers. The duo continued on to explain that they started Wardrobe as a sustainably-minded response to excessive consumption and chose to work with fabrics, such as the lush Woolmark textiles featured in this drop, that stand the test of time.

It’s been a whirlwind two years since they founded the brand, and Centenera and Goot show no signs of stopping. They juggle their brand and trips back and forth to Australia for Vogue Australia, where Centenera is fashion director.

“The idea is to buy less and buy better. Invest in pieces that you have for a really long time,” Centenera explained, to which Goot thoughtfully responded, “I don’t know how the future of fashion or retail can be buy less, because then there would be no future. But perhaps that is the future.”
