They re not blue, they re not your average denim,

but the print is what changes it.

It s cool because they don t really look like denim

and you wouldn t really characterize them

I think immediately as denim.

Because this is such kind of an intense statement piece,

these jeans, I think they re best with knits

or with something that s super sober on the top.

Keep it simple,

not to mix your prints and plaids and florals.

The look is inspired by Camilla Nickerson s shoot

in our June issue of Dree Hemingway

and everything in that shoot is plaids

and tweeds and gingham and tatty

and then there s knits that she pairs with everything,

and I think that this is what I m trying to go for.

It kind of feels a little preppy to me

but has a modern feel to it.

I think it s partly because of the shoes.

I love a pointy shoe,

especially with a shoe that s not classically feminine.

We all have jeans, we all wear jeans every day,

but to make it a little funkier,

to change it up is more fun.
