Over the past few seasons, the ugly shoe has been the trend that refuses to disappear: from Balenciaga’s Croc heels, to the Y/Project x Ugg thigh-high boots, to arguably the most infamous example, Balenciaga’s Triple S sneaker, we could hardly move last year without the release of a new shoe design challenging our notions of good taste.
Now, it seems, there’s a new kid on the block: and it’s the most adorable yet. The first sighting came via none other than Gigi Hadid, who posted an image to her Instagram last month in which she subtly integrated her pair of Ugg Fluff Yeah slides into a head-to-toe pink look. Later in May, they were also spotted on her sister Bella, who wore a purple version of the shoe while partying on a yacht in Monaco.

It turns out that was just the beginning of the sisters’ love affair with this coziest of shoes. Earlier this week, Gigi stepped out in a casual, all-black look (while also wearing that other undying trend, the bicycle short), but gave it a zingier twist by sporting a pair of the slides in lemon yellow. Shortly afterwards, Bella too reiterated her love for the style, as she was spotted leaving New York’s Pier59 Studios in a very ’90s double denim look, brought firmly into the present day by—yes, you guessed it—the Fluff Yeah slides in powder pink. Now, it seems Selena Gomez has got in on the action. Photographed on a trip to the cinema, she showed that slouchy dressing doesn’t mean you can’t have a little fun, wearing the slides with a grey sweatshirt and sweatpants to give the look a cheerful pop of color.
It’s easy to understand the appeal of the fluffy slide, both for its nostalgia value (the Fluff Yeah has more than a touch of fuzzy children’s slipper to it) and, most importantly, to get home after a long day and feel like you’ve spent it walking on clouds. But wherever the Hadid sisters go, trends tend to follow: so keep your eyes peeled, because we doubt this will be the last time you see this cutesy, comfortable shoe this summer.
