The New Way to Wear Denim Is Anything But Basic

As an enduring classic, denim cannot be considered a trend—unlike the open-toe boot or tiny sunglasses, it will never go in and out of fashion. But lately, street style stars have gone mad for the stuff in an unexpected way, dispensing with a timeless pair of jeans for much bolder, bluer fare.
Think: the denim purse, once carried by noughties stars like Paris Hilton, now resurrected by model Bella Hadid, who whipped one out on at New York Fashion Week. It popped against her beige pants and top in a way that looked ultra-modern. Denim dresses and skirts have been making the rounds, as well, and though we’ve yet to see a 2001 Britney Spears–level moment, anything is possible in this day and age of Instagram peacocks. For the average Joe or Jane, however, a little flash of blue in a non-traditional place should do the trick.
Here, a slew of unconventional items to get your own denim fix.
