It’s been a busy weekend for Cardi B. Last night, the rapper performed at the Fanatics Super Bowl Party in San Francisco; today, she’s got a front row seat for boyfriend Stefon Diggs’s big work event: the 2026 Super Bowl. Also, surprise! She appeared with Bad Bunny during the halftime show.
For the occasion, Cardi tapped celebrity manicurist and OPI Global Brand Ambassador Coca Michelle to create her look. The two have worked together since 2019, when Michelle did Cardi’s nails for the 2019 BET Awards.
“It’s nice to have creative freedom when working with Cardi,” she says. “I like to use different techniques, textures, and materials based on the vibe I’m curating for each client.” When it comes to Cardi, she tends to go for bold colors, high-tech finishes, rhinestones, and even custom-welded metal piercings.
Michelle is also accustomed to working on the fly. “I usually begin my process when I receive the outfit sketches from Cardi’s stylist. My prep time varies, though. Sometimes I have days to plan, and sometimes I don’t see the outfit until two hours before she has to finish glam.”
Tonight, Cardi and Michelle took inspiration from the singer’s outfit: a beige lace-up bustier with long bell sleeves. “Her look is regal and romantic, so I wanted her manicure to reflect that,” Michelle says. It started with a base of OPI Intelli-Gel in My Vampire is Buff on long, square-shaped nails, to which the nail artist applied emerald-colored stones and flashes of gold. “These accents bring in contrast and dimension to the manicure without overpowering the look.”
Instead, it empowered it. First, a Super Bowl half time appearance—next, maybe a Super Bowl ring for boyfriend Diggs?
