All hail Angelina Jolie, queen of trench coats!
On Tuesday, the actor and Atelier Jolie founder touched down in Italy for the Venice Film Festival dressed in a double-breasted, below-the-knee trench coat with a cinched waist. But she turned the closet staple on its head with the surprising short sleeve, ending just above her elbows.
A loyal subscriber to uniform dressing, Jolie arrived in Venice wearing a dressed-down version of her travel look. She opted for a white tee and cropped wide-legged navy trousers, and black oversized sunglasses with a subtle cat-eye. While she usually favors a pair of nude Christian Louboutin pumps, Jolie swapped the stilettos out for a pair of black leather knee-high boots from Mulberry with criss-crossing leather straps.
Jolie is proving herself a trench coat die-hard, in spite of the soaring temperatures. While trenches have long been considered a transitional weather staple, it’s something we’re used to seeing for crisper days, not in the peak of summer heat. But with her short-sleeve iteration, Angelina Jolie is making the case that trench coats are a viable option, even in summer.
