Leave it to Chloë Sevigny to make such a classic shoe look totally unexpected.
Since April of this year, the actor has worn her new favorite shoe no less than 10 times (that the paparazzi caught, at least). The utilitarian footwear in question is like a sneaker-ballerina hybrid, featuring the rubber, GORPy tread of a hiking shoe, the silhouette of a feminine flat, and laces that tie around the ankle like pointe shoe ribbons.
Sevigny’s go-to shoe is the ECCO Biom C-Trail, designed by former Chloé creative director Natacha Ramsay-Levi, and proves a versatile staple in the actor’s storied wardrobe. Earlier this week, she was spotted battling the New York City heatwave in a sleeveless, gray John Galliano shirt and black track shorts with white piping detail. But she’s also dressed them for chillier temperatures in an indigo sweatshirt and navy shorts.
Sevigny has paired the shoes with sporty and feminine pieces alike. On a walk with her husband, Siniša Mačković, in May, she donned her ECCOs with a denim smock dress, which she wore over a light teal, lace-trimmed slip skirt and a brown turtleneck; a few days later she coupled them with a black-and-white gingham skirt.
The street style star even shows versatility on the socks front. While she’s most liable to go high-contrast in white socks, she’s also tested out gray, oatmeal, and lace pairs.
Bad news for anyone hoping to emulate Chloë Sevigny, because the shoes have since sold out. The good news, however, is that Ramsay-Levi is preparing another drop (her third) this coming fall.
