Another day, another Dakota Johnson look for the internet to feast upon. After a few L.A.-centric outfits in recent weeks, her latest look—thankfully—represents a return to seasonal form, and one that we can easily emulate in an east coast winter. Joining some (presumably A-list) friends for dinner last night (November 13), the actress wore arguably the perfect winter coat and boots combo. However, it was her Dalia baguette bag from The Row that really had us sitting up and paying attention.
We’ve long been under the spell of The Row’s Margaux bag, but could there be a new Olsen-produced cult accessory nipping at its heels already? As Sex and the City has taught us, the baguette bag had its heyday in the ’90s and noughties before falling by the wayside, overtaken by alternatives of a more ludicrously capacious nature over the past few years. But an endorsement from Dakota Johnson suggests we’re about to see this compact little creature on the arm of every understated Instagram it-Girl within roughly three to five weeks.
Trends, famously, come and go, but Dakota Johnson’s style has remained consistent in the decade (time flies!) or so since she became both a household name and the scourge of hairdressers everywhere tasked with recreating her perfect ’70s cut and bangs on ordinary women. As someone who’s been papped with every it-bag under the sun—Gucci, Valentino, Chanel…you get the gist—it’s fair to say that wherever her accessory radar goes, others tend to follow. So put away those oversized tote bags and turn your attention to something a little more slender, sleek, and understated.
