Ever walk out your house and get the urge to bundle up in a literal comforter blanket? When it comes to fall-winter dressing, it can be hard to strike the balance between practicality (read: warmth) and style. Talk about a sartorial challenge! But if model Gigi Hadid proves anything this week, it’s that piling on the cozy layers can still make for a chic end result. The key, it appears, all lies in the styling approach.
Spotted in New York City earlier today, Hadid emerged wearing an idyllic outfit for a crisp autumnal day. She sported a long, double-breasted herringbone cashmere coat from her own knitwear brand, Guest in Residence. She paired it with camel-colored sweatpants, and a paisley-print scarf, also from her own label. Of course, she was sure to add some cool-girl accessories, like a white leather Miu Miu shoulder bag. She also sported some shearling boots by Alameda Turquesa.
Why does her snuggly ensemble work so well, you may ask yourself? Hadid kept the look monochromatic, fusing together various shades of brown and camel for an all-over tonal effect. She combined a lot of plushy textures, yet it still feels cohesive, being all in the same color palette. So, yes, it turns out that you can cosplay as a teddy bear and still look like a top model. Just do like Hadid and remember to rock pieces in similar hues. Bonus points if you designed said pieces yourself, too.
