We’ve reached a peak when it comes to quiet luxury, perhaps we’re even teetering on the edge of fatigue. At this point the term – which became ubiquitous in line with the final season of Succession, and is epitomized by celeb-favorite brands like Khaite, The Row and Bottega Veneta— has been applied to so much that nailing down its precise visual characteristics can be challenging. However, the common thread is the attention to detail: outfits featuring those “if-you-know-you-know” pieces that are instantly recognisable to fashion connoisseurs and the immensely wealthy. Gigi Hadid’s latest look underscores the potency of understated—yet exquisite—wardrobe essentials.
On her casual days, Gigi typically leans towards jeans and cropped T-shirts, often paired with skater girl Vans. But her most recent outing saw a shift from her usual laid-back style towards a more refined simplicity. Over the weekend, the runway star wore a white oversized button-up shirt over navy low-rise, wide-leg lounge pants and sleek black leather Mansur Gavriel ballet flats. She accessorised with a brown chequered Emi Jay hair clip, layers of gold jewellery (one of which is a Missoma chain necklace), gold-rimmed Andy Wolf sunglasses and her beloved cream Loro Piana L19 clutch – a bag she’s been surgically attached to over the past year.
Gigi’s look cleverly balances business on top and casual at the bottom—a style that was everywhere in the Zoom-heavy days of the pandemic. These were no tracksuit bottoms though—her relaxed tailoring struck just the right balance between comfort and polish. Perhaps quiet luxury isn’t dead, after all.
