The Golden Globes are upon us, marking the start of a monthlong awards season. While we’re still wondering who will emerge victorious across the major categories, we have another pressing question on our minds: What will Taylor Swift wear to the Golden Globes?
The singer is nominated for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement—a new category—for the Eras Tour, making this her fifth nod. She last attended the ceremony in 2020, when she was nominated for Best Original Song for “Carolina” from Where The Crawdads Sing. For her last appearance on the Globes’ red carpet, she wore a sweeping blue dress with bright yellow flowers from Etro.
We last played stylist for Swift when we speculated on what she would wear to her birthday. (She ended up in a starry Clio Peppiatt minidress.) While we imagine that Joseph Cassell Falconer will do the actual job for this weekend’s ceremony, we took up the mantle once again to cosplay as Swift’s awards show stylist. We already know that Swift rocks a light blue dress like no other, so we’d love to see her in this cheeky couture piece from Viktor Rolf’s spring 2023 collection. It’s pretty enough to be in her wheelhouse, with just enough spice to make for a truly eye-catching red carpet moment.
Sarah Burton’s final collection for Alexander McQueen was essentially one big hit parade, but this look is one that particularly lives in our heads rent-free. A master of Easter eggs, Swift would surely appreciate the ornate details embroidered on this stunning slip. An added bonus: we already know that it would look amazing with her signature red lip.
While maybe this couture look isn’t the most practical—anyone seated next to Swift wearing this spiky top is at risk for losing an eyeball—it would be the perfect way to kick off her Reputation era. Between the statement collar and the tailored trousers, she would put the “power” in power dressing.
This sweet Molly Goddard dress from spring 2024 is perfectly on-trend for all the balletcore fans out there, but also seems like it could easily belong in Swift’s closet. The drop-waisted tulle skirt and the lining on the bodice would make her look like a modern Degas.
A lover of romantic dresses, Swift would surely be into this beautifully draped CJR dress. Between its neutral eggshell color palette and ankle-length hem, we imagine that she could have a lot of fun in the beauty and accessories departments, too.
This one isn’t exactly in her wheelhouse, but come on, how cool would it be to see Swift in a classic Thom Browne look? While she always looks gorgeous on the carpet, maybe the operative word for the Golden Globes could be “dapper.”
