The Cannes Film Festival is infamous for its strict fashion protocols: glamour of the highest order, and for women, heels are a must. But when Isabelle Huppert hit the Croisette yesterday in what first appeared as a bathrobe, she joined the ranks of envelope-pushers on the red carpet.

Of course, Huppert didn’t just grab any old robe on her way out of the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc. For the premiere of Horizon: An American Saga, she wore a white furry custom Balenciaga wrap featuring a belted waist and a thigh-high slit. But what really set the French actor’s look apart was the regal, structured collar that hovered above her shoulders and showed off her décolleté.

Huppert accessorized her look to take it from bathroom-chic to something premiere-worthy. The actor wore a pair of nude, pointy-toe boots, playing by the Cannes footwear rule. She also upped the glam factor with De Beers jewelry, draping multiple diamond necklaces across her neck and chest and adding chunky earrings and rings.

While her Balenciaga robe dress already exuded an air of effortlessness, she elevated the look to full DGAF status with a pair of impenetrable black sunglasses. We can all learn a thing or two about movie star cool from Isabelle Huppert.
