Sundance Film Festival is known for its plushy, cozy-cool fashion. And while Jenna Ortega isn’t ready to fully let go of her gothic glam aesthetic just yet, her appearance in Park City lightened up the freaky-femme fatale look.

Well, as much as one can when wearing Mugler. The actor walked The Gallerist premiere red carpet in a look from the spring 2026 ready-to-wear collection. The nude-colored tailored shirt and belted midi skirt featured a stiff collar and curved shoulders, and a nipped-in waist with two-tone paneling. Styled by Enrique Melendez, the cool-toned look was kept simple with archival pointed beige pumps from Le Silla and earrings and rings by New York fine jewelry brand Marli.

Glam kept in the same, more muted rhythm by go-to makeup artist Melanie Inglessis, who prepped her skin with the d’Alba Signature Allthera Double Shot before makeup application for a calm complexion, with a reddish-toned nude lip, and her eyebrows still dutifully bleached.

It felt like a delicate departure from some of Ortega’s more smoky, sensual looks with deeper eyeshadows, plummy lipsticks, and sharply contoured features. “For Jenna’s Sundance makeup, we focused on the skin,” says Inglessis. “We created a healthy, dewy glow by applying very little coverage and working with cream blushes and highlighting balms for a youthful, flushed look.” Dom Forletta kept her dark brunette hair glossy and straight in a middle part.

Ortega stars alongside Natalie Portman in The Gallerist. Directed by Cathy Yan, the film follows gallerist Polina Polinski (Portman) as she tries to make a name for herself at Art Basel Miami with her assistant’s help (Jenna Ortega). Driven by ambition and wacky circumstances, Polina hatches a plan to sell a dead body as art.

Ortega and Portman posed together on the red carpet alongside Charli xcx, who also appears in the movie—her third at Sundance. Following a similar color palette to Ortega but very much keeping to her own subversive sense of style, the pop star turned actor opted for a nude mini-dress with a lace-lined, clear PVC rain poncho by Simon Carle.

Alongside her stylist Melendez, Ortega—one of Vogue’s best dressed for 2025—has established a dark and sensual aesthetic, by way of designers like Dilara Findikoglu, Ashi Studio, Ann Demuelemeester, and Vivienne Westwood. It’s a style lexicon that’s led to gothic boots on an Aussie beach, pirate corsets, sky-high Louboutins, shredded dresses, and architectural metals and leathers.

Don’t expect any major style switch ups from Jenna Ortega, fashion’s queen of the night, anytime soon—it’s just too good.
