Just One Look: The Leather Jacket Emily Ratajkowski Is Wearing Everywhere

What’s the preeminent piece of right now? Emily Ratajkowski offers up an exciting answer: Prada’s endlessly adaptable leather jacket. The Daring Day Look

“You have to be certainly quite daring to wear this look,” says Simmons about Miu Miu’s buzzy and belly-baring spring 2022 micro mini skirt and crop top. The preppiness of this daytime look becomes all the more enticing juxtaposed with Prada’s on-the-town cool oversized motorcycle jacket.

The Throw-On and Go Look

“It was almost a throw-on look,” says Simmons. “You’d be wearing this around the house, then throw the jacket over the top as you’re leaving.” With the addition of Prada’s jacket baggy denim, Ratajkowski’s Inamorata tee, a baseball cap, and sneakers transform from throw-on to a perfectly polished day look meant for dashing around the city.

The Day-to-Night Look

“It’s one of those looks where you have a number of things to do during the day, but you really need to keep something on that’s appropriate for the night because you’re not going home to get changed,” explains Simmons, who paired Jacquemus’ party-ready popping pink crop top and chocolate brown pants with a mens-inspired shoe silhouette by Koio to dress it down slightly. ”It still looks smart enough to go out in the evening.”

The Runway Look

“This is the way Miuccia Prada interpreted that jacket,” says Simmons of the head-to-toe Prada look fresh off the spring 2022 runway. “I thought it was very important to shoot that original look how the designer envisioned it so you could see the different transformations of the jacket.”

The Very Vogue Look

“I love that sweatshirt. I’ve been trying to get my hands on one for ages,” laughs Simmons. “It’s playing on the oversized proportion where the jacket is very big, and the sweatshirt is very, very big. She wore it like a dress. We didn’t put anything on the bottom.”

The 24th Hour Look

“I wanted to give the jacket a 24-hour life where it could be worn during the day and at night time,” explains Simmons. Here, in an unexpected pairing, Proenza Schouler’s bold red evening wear feels ultramodern with Prada’s jacket on top. “The person buying this jacket could wear an evening dress they’ve had in their wardrobe for many moons to revitalize it.”
