This past New York Fashion Week, you couldn’t walk five feet without seeing a draped scarf jacket. But the look is spanning well past the streets of Manhattan and the runways. Celebrities like Kendall Jenner and Ayo Edebiri are also embracing the effortless outerwear.
Jenner has been a documented fan of the scarf jacket since late 2023, when she showed off her Phoebe Philo caped bomber in Los Angeles. Later that week, she wore a buttery leather Bottega Veneta trench coat, a matching scarf draped across her chest. Jenner’s fondness for the two-in-one look persisted, to the point where she was among NYFW’s many scarf jacket enthusiasts. After walking in the Calvin Klein Collection’s revival show, the model cloaked herself in a sage green top from The Row, adding some dynamism to her classic cropped white tee and trousers.
Edebiri modeled the look—also in The Row—at the premiere of her film Opus at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. The actor wore a chartreuse midi dress with a matching coat that she draped over her elbow with a pair of ladylike ankle-strap heels.
It’s no surprise that the look is spiking in popularity this winter. The Toteme scarf jacket reached cult status in 2023. But with Calvin Klein, Kallmeyer, and Brandon Maxwell all showing the drapey silhouette on the runway this season‚ plus the endorsement from two high-octane dressers like Kendall Jenner and Ayo Edebiri—we can safely assume that the trend is just beginning.
