To the untrained eye, the groutfit—a monochromatic, corporeal landscape of gray—is boring. Depressing, even. But Meghan Markle has shown us how to make an all-gray look work in our favor.
The Duchess of Sussex has spent the last few days taking meetings in Los Angeles, two hours south of her Montecito home. Last night, Markle stopped by Asanebo in Studio City for a sushi dinner with Terry Wood, the executive vice president of Oprah’s Harpo Productions. (This comes just over a week after she announced her new podcast deal with Lemonada Media.)
But don’t expect any power suiting. Markle opted for a lowkey look for the outing. She wore a gray mélange sweater from La Ligne, which she French tucked into a pair of slim, dark gray jeans. (Is this the return of skinny jeans, we wonder?) She added a pair of metallic ballet flats from Chanel, and carried a gray Goyardine Bellechasse bag from Goyard.
We can all take a page from the Duchess’s book when it comes to livening up our own grayscale outfits. Consider the gray mélange, like Markle, or a more dynamic texture to create some depth. Wearing metallics, like her flats, also adds some spice to the look. Keep this all in mind the next time you enter a gray area.
