PhotoVogue Festival 2023: The Talks
This conversation took place on November 17th 2023 as part of the PhotoVogue Festival 2023 which centered around the theme “What Makes us Human?: Image in the Age of A.I.”
As we start a conversation on AI and what it means to be human, “Text to Image Prompt: The technology and science behind A.I. and what it could mean for image makers?” will
be a deep dive into the emerging creative AI technologies. We will demystify the technology behind prompt engineering, curation and generative AI - and the text to image / text to image tools which are blurring the lines between real and imagined.
This talk is curated by Mel McVeigh, VP Consumer Product at Conde Nast. McVeigh leads the digital portfolio across 9 brands in 11 markets: Vogue, GQ, Conde Nast Traveller, Architectural Digest, House + Garden, World of Interiors, Allure, SELF, Glamour. McVeigh is also responsible for the Commerce Platform - Storefront and Affiliate. She is a senior product leader with a creative mindset. In her role, she reimagines, the digital customer experience to reach the widest global audience with inspiration and delight. This includes the Met Gala and Vogue World livestream, launching Vogue’s new Storefront, Architectural Digest Designer Directory or Conde Nast Travelers website and booking platform. Mel is also a lens based artist with an MFA from Monash University. Her work intertwines between human and machine, algorithms and storytelling. McVeigh recently published her photobook A Chance for Love - a series of portraits of men she met on tinder as she tried to break the algorithm.
