Rihanna is the first person to wear Jonathan Anderson’s Dior couture off the runway…kind of.

Yesterday, the singer and entrepreneur attended Anderson’s Dior couture debut in Paris, where she wore a sheer black polka-dot dress and double-breasted coat reminiscent of one of her most memorable maternity looks. By the time the after-party rolled around, she already nabbed a look fresh off the runway.

But Rih wasn’t rocking one of Anderson’s sculptural gowns or woven capelets. Instead, she borrowed from the beauty, wearing bunches of white and magenta cyclamen in her hair. The distinctive look, which models wore in various shades of white, pink, and violet, was a touching nod to one of Anderson’s predecessors, John Galliano.

When Anderson first showed Galliano his debut womenswear collection, “John very kindly came with two posy of cyclamen tied with black silk ribbons and a bag of cakes and sweets from Tesco for the team,” Anderson wrote on Instagram. “The most beautiful flowers I had ever seen so I took this as a starting point so that everyone could receive the same posy of flowers I had received.”

“To me, they almost look like those big headphones everybody is wearing now,” hairstylist Guido told Vogue backstage. “Flowers in the hair always signal romance, but the way they are presented, sitting at the front of the face, is what makes it modern.”

And oh, did Rihanna make it modern. She dressed down the high glamour look, pairing her posies with a white tee, cuffed blue jeans, and a furry white scarf. She accessorized with a pair of satin ballet slipper pink pointy-toe heels, layered necklaces, and sunglasses. And just peeking out from beneath her scarf, she tied another bunch of cyclamen around her belt loop.
