Over the last few years, Timothée Chalamet has eaten, breathed, and slept Bob Dylan while filming and promoting A Complete Unknown. He performed his songs on SNL, wore fake blonde bangs to nod to the singer’s 2003 Sundance appearance, and even told Anderson Cooper that he would “out-Bob” the man himself if they ever met.

Now, as he can see the light at the end of the awards season tunnel, the actor has embraced Dylan dressing, mixing direct references into his usual eclectic style. Last night at the Academy Awards Nominees Dinner, Chalamet offered a more formal take on the Dylanesque with the help of another American icon: the Gap.

Zac Posen, Gap Inc.’s executive vice president and creative director, created his first-ever custom menswear look for Chalamet. He recreated Gap’s Icon jacket and loose jeans in a black Duchesse satin, which Chalamet wore with a black silk jersey T-shirt. The actor’s stylist, Taylor McNeill, paired the GapStudio look with pointy-toe black leather boots and Cartier jewelry. A Cartier ambassador, Chalamet further elevated his outfit with a mixed-metal Trinity necklace and a diamond and onyx Les Berlingots ring.

The look was understated yet elegant—very befitting of an Oscar nominee. In an accessible, thoroughly American brand Timothée Chalamet delivered on a movie star’s interpretation of Bob Dylan.
