The pantless trend has largely fizzled out… or so we thought.
Yesterday, Tyla made a bid to bring back the controversial look. The singer arrived in Berlin dressed in a cream Vettese bodysuit with a plunging neckline, which she wore tucked into a pair of impossibly tiny high-waisted denim shorts. There was also no need to XYZ. Tyla left her light wash hotpants unzipped, the waistband folded over to expose the gathering on her bodysuit.
As if the shorts weren’t making a statement enough on their own, she added multiple loud accessories. Over her shoulders, Tyla wore a leather Zoraide Polidori jacket in vibrant primary colors. She also rubber-stamped another controversial trend: the gladiator sandal, donning a heeled pair from Alaïa.
While the pantless trend still had a place on the 2025 Met Gala carpet, it’s nowhere near as popular in celebrity street style as it was from 2022 to 2024. Back then, Emma Corrin walked the runway in Miu Miu’s embroidered panties, Kristen Stewart opted for a pants-free press tour, and Bella Hadid hit the streets of New York in tighty-whities. But now, in her denim microshorts, Tyla may just be leading a 2025 revival.
