As is traditional in summer, the stars are posting envy-inducing carousels of holiday snaps on Instagram, from Dua Lipa’s horizontal selfies in Albania, to Catherine Zeta-Jones kicking back on a yacht off the Amalfi Coast wearing a kaftan and fashion flip-flops. Victoria Beckham and the rest of the family—or at least most of them—also recently enjoyed a vacation in Canada.
While enjoying the crisp air and picturesque views at Lake Muskoka, the Beckhams also tried out some water sports, with Victoria sharing footage of their water skiing antics on Instagram. The designer didn’t don a wetsuit, though, instead she wore a sporty little black dress (LBD) to take to the lake. VB completed her ensemble with a black baseball cap and a black pair of her eponymous brand’s oversized shades.

The LBD has always been key to Victoria’s fashion repertoire. However, over the years, her chosen silhouette has changed to match her evolving aesthetic, ranging from daring to demure. Back in her Spice Girls days, the pop sensation rocked itty-bitty minimalist black dresses, most memorably in the 1997 hit film Spice World. Fast forward to 2022, and she introduced the VB Body line, showcasing a collection of LBDs reminiscent of the iconic style that helped to make her famous in the ’90s.
The late Karl Lagerfeld once said, “One is never over-dressed or underdressed in a little black dress.” While VB’s latest dress is fashioned from scuba material to make it appropriate for a lake outing, she’s still as chic as ever, proving Lagerfeld’s point precisely. Although, this time, she’s more Sporty than Posh Spice.
