From the Burberry Bar to the Coach Check How Theatre Royal Drury Lane Was Transformed for Vogue World

As if a six-act performance featuring Stormzy, Sienna Miller, and the original supermodels wasn’t enough to satiate the theatre, music, dance, and fashion buffs in the audience at Vogue World: London, the interactive happenings before and after the show at Theatre Royal Drury Lane served as the icing on a very stylish cake.

As soon as guests stepped into Covent Garden’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane—welcomed by a twinkling Vogue World: London billboard—they were immersed in every element required for the ultimate night at the theatre, from sweet treats courtesy of Fortnum Mason to a cozy Coach pashmina, Burberry British canapés conceived by Florence Knight of Sessions Arts Club, to a lipstick touch up in the Estée Lauder Powder Room. On hand with the drinks? Don Julio 1942, Burberry, and Gucci.

As guests flocked through the doors of Theatre Royal Drury Lane they were greeted by Coach’s Coach Check, where, instead of checking their coat for the evening, they were treated to their pick of soft pashminas in shades from blush pink to forest green. What’s more, the pashminas were customizable with a range of theatre-inspired pins and badges, including the Sock and Buskin comedy and tragedy masks, which served as a miniature keepsake for guests.

Erdem x Blooming Haus Flower Carts

Flanking the grand staircase—which guests ascended to take their seats for the show—were flower girls who handed out single red roses from British designer Erdem and Blooming Haus’s traditional wooden flower cart, a tribute to the carts that once populated Covent Garden. When the original supermodels appeared for the grand finale, the audience was invited to toss their roses onto the stage.

Giorgio Bargiani and Martina Bonci—Gucci’s esteemed mixologists—welcomed guests to the Giardino 25, the Florentine brand’s take on an all-day café and cocktail bar, housed inside Theatre Royal Drury Lane’s Cecil Beaton bar. Here, guests sipped on custom gin cocktails, including a Memoire Di Negroni, an Elisir D’Elicrisio Martini, and an Elisir D’Elicrisio Spritz.

Who better to indulge a crowd’s collective sweet tooth, than Fortnum Mason, the oldest department store in London? Guests were treated to an array of classic sweets and chocolates to indulge in before the show began, including their signature Marc De Champagne Truffles, lemon sherbets, and licorice.

Don Julio 1942 took over Drury Lane’s dramatic atrium, where at the half-moon bar, guests sipped from delicious custom cocktails in bespoke glassware designed by three of London’s most exciting labels: 16Arlington, SS Daley, and Ahluwalia. At the bar, mixologists also sported the brand’s designs, including 16 Arlington’s sequinned Opala shirt. The best part? They could take their glasses home at the end of the night as a chic souvenir.

From the lobby, audience members descended to the ground floor, where inside Pleasing’s Powder Room they were encouraged to pose for a Polaroid selfie and touch up their make-up inside a psychedelic space, accented with marbled motifs. They left with a one-off Pleasing pouch filled with products from Harry Styles’s brand: Hand + Nail Balm, Perfect Pearl Polish, Pearly Tops Polish, and Big Lip.

In a flurry of blue florals and checks, British heritage label Burberry took over Theatre Royal Drury Lane’s Grand Saloon bar, where renowned chef Florence Knight had curated a menu of delectable sweet and savory canapés, from crab croquette to buttered radish, smoked haddock and egg to potted chicken and prune, walnut, and quince to blackberry, curd, and oats. As guests sipped gin cocktails, including a Sipello Negroni and a lemon-infused gin and tonic, they moved out onto the Grand Saloon’s magnificent terrace to perch on Burberry blue park benches draped with check blankets, to see the Vogue World: London theatre billboard up close.

Estée Lauder Powder Room

Upstairs in the Estée Lauder powder room, guests found the perfect place to touch up their make-up, surrounded by plush furnishing that oozed Old Hollywood glamour. And that wasn’t all. They could also take home their favorite shade, courtesy of a selection of complimentary Estée Lauder After Hours Slim Compact Pressed Powder and Pure Colour Lipsticks, plus mints in elegant gold hardware tins.
