Lunay Talks Performing—and Debuting New Music—at the Willy Chavarria Show

In Paris, Willy Chavarria brought a little piece of community to the City of Light—and Lunay was there to soundtrack it.
Chavarria’s fall 2026 menswear collection—punctuated with slick suiting and cool bomber jackets—served as a love letter to his New York (the show was set up as a giant Manhattan crosswalk!) and the diaspora of Latin America, featuring Latin performers such as Mon Laferte, Santos Bravos, Mahmood, and Lunay—all close friends of Chavarria’s.
“One of my favorite moments was getting to interact with the other performers,” says Lunay, who hails from Puerto Rico. “It was wild to see how different our worlds and genres are, yet somehow the team managed to make everything connect so perfectly. I wanted the performance to encapsulate emotion, presence, and confidence—something raw and romantic, but still elevated and strong.”
Lunay is no stronger to partaking in a Willy show, of course. The singer also walked in the designer’s spring 2026 menswear show, and has attended the Fashion Awards as a guest of Chavarria. “Lunay is a style icon in his genre,” says Chavarria of his muse. ”He reaches such a wide audience through his talents and his big heart. It’s been a pleasure becoming his friend and working with him.”
Still, performing during such a theatrical, high-production event like a Chavarria show was a whole new challenge for Lunay. The star—who has two albums, 2019’s Épico and 2021’s El Niño—wanted to bring a sense of power and emotion to the catwalk. He not only sang, but acted out a a morning workout, and gave a cheeky mid-runway performance armed with a cigarette. “Performing at the show felt powerful, it was culture and emotion, and pushed me way out of my comfort zone with the acting,” says Lunay. “I thought the collection was really powerful. The silhouettes felt strong, but there was also a lot of emotion in the way everything moved. There was something really cinematic about it—it didn’t feel like clothes just for the runway, it felt like a statement, and that’s what I respect about Willy’s vision.”
Naturally, Lunay had some of his own statement fashions for the show—all courtesy of Chavarria, naturally. “I wore two looks during the performance,” he says. “The first was an iconic white PJ set with stripes, paired with the signature Willy briefs underneath and Willy slides—it felt bold, playful, and very on-brand.” After performing his bicep curls in the set, he changed into his look for the catwalk set, an all-black suiting look. “What I loved most about both looks was the comfort,” says Lunay. “They were loose-fitting and allowed me to move freely, so I could stay present and fully focused on giving my best on stage. Together, the looks felt modern, confident, and undeniably Willy.”
These days, the star says he gravitates towards clothes that feel youthful but classic—so wearing such pieces were not a far stretch from his day-to-day style. “I gravitate toward clean silhouettes, strong fits, and pieces that feel elevated without trying too hard,” he says. “When it’s time for a red carpet or a moment like Paris, I definitely polish it up, but I never step away from who I am. It’s still my personal style, just taken to the next level.”
Soon enough, Lunay will definitely be leveling-up his stardom. Just yesterday, he also released his first single “Ojalá”—his first in over a year—and performed it during the show. “It is the beginning of a new chapter for me,” says Lunay. “It’s emotionally raw, but still modern and rhythmic, and it captures that feeling of being completely in love and wanting to hold onto it.”
The singer says that you can expect this new mood from his new forthcoming music. “After taking time to grow creatively and evolve my sound, I’m coming back with more clarity and intention,” he adds. ”This is a more mature version of me, one who wants to explore in every facet of my life, not just musically. What’s next is more music, more visuals, and continuing to expand the world I’m building in this new era.”
