Fast Forward Fashion with Yellowjackets Stars Christina Ricci and Samantha Hanratty
Released on 04/06/2023
I love the cat sweaters.
I asked for that cat sweater
so I could rewear it as adult Misty.
We haven t had a chance yet. Yes!
But it s in my closet. Yeah!
My Misty closet. Love, love, love.
[slow jazzy music]
Hi, Vogue.
I m Christina Ricci,
and I m here with my, Yellowjackets costar,
Samantha Hanratty.
Hi, Samantha. Hi.
We are here today for the first ever,
Fast Forward Fashion, a new series
where actors break down the looks of their past
and the role fashion takes in the transformative nature
of both acting and growing up.
We both transform every day
while on set of, Yellowjackets.
Christina for adult Misty, me for teen Misty.
And wardrobe, of course,
is a huge part of that transformation.
Here we have a book of some of our favorite looks
over the years, so let s turn the page.
Okay.
I believe that is my turn first.
Yeah, I think you re first.
Okay. Oh my God.
So this was in 2002, so I was 22.
You were two years old. [Samantha laughing]
I m wearing a very, very early 2000s look.
Oh my God.
[Christina] The classic corset attached to coat
with choker.
This is when I was watching you, like, nonstop.
Not to be creepy, but it s true.
You look the exact same.
And so this- Tell me about this!
I was nominated.
And this is a custom Alberta Ferretti that was made for me,
and it was not a color I would ve worn.
[Samantha] Oh, it s amazing on you.
But, I enjoyed it. Yeah.
And it s a rare moment where I m actually tan.
They made it for me without even telling me.
And I was a little at the time like, I don t know.
What if I don t like it?
And then it showed up and it was absolutely gorgeous.
It is. Absolutely gorgeous.
And then this was actually just last year.
[Samantha] Love.
This is Fendi by my very dear friend Kim Jones.
And I just loved it.
I actually chose it when it came down the runway and sent-
Really? sent the images to him.
This was my favorite, and they sent it to me.
I view myself as more of a character actress, really.
I never look like how I would wanna look on camera.
[Samantha] Right.
So it s to me so important that when I show up as myself,
that who I am is communicated.
Yeah.
For me, adult Misty has long ago, I think, accepted
that she doesn t really understand the rules of society.
I love dressing like her for the show.
[Samantha] Yeah.
[Christina] She just has no social grace
and I really enjoy that. Yeah, me too.
She s messy.
I like it.
Especially in season two,
she s very childish. Yeah.
And that was really fun for me.
This season, you re mostly wearing, like, all the layers.
A bunch of layers.
Right now I feel like no one s letting Misty
borrow their clothes.
I feel like Misty s just wearing a bunch
of her own clothes. Oh, she s wearing them
over and over again. Yeah, yeah.
I think it s your turn. I m nervous.
Lady. Dun, dun, dun!
Okay, you turn to yourself.
Oh my gosh, okay. Do the reveal.
Ready? Uh-huh.
Okay. Aww.
Oh my gosh.
I love this so much.
2008. It s so cute.
Fun fact.
I didn t, like, actually get invited to this award show.
But I had a publicist at the time that was, like,
Sneak on the carpet, get some pictures.
[Christina] Honestly, if you can find that, I ll wear it.
Okay, I m sure it ll fit you.
It s great, it s great, it s perfect.
You gotta do the same pose though.
I will. [Samantha laughing]
Don t dare me. Yeah.
This next one.
Oh wow. Okay.
Yeah, it s a little different than the last look.
[Christina] It s really beautiful.
I think there were times that I tried to overdo the sexy.
This is, like, a perfect mix of all of it.
When you re younger
to have to, like, telegraph who you are
when you don t know who you are.
It s a journey.
It s a journey.
It is a journey and a half.
Okay, what else do we have?
Oh, yes. [Samantha gasps]
Okay. Such a beautiful dress.
[Samantha] Can you tell
that I m way too excited to be there?
I mean, people wanna see people happy.
Yeah. Instead of, like,
my Emmys photo where I m like, I will kill you.
[Samantha laughing]
But it worked for the fit!
It worked for the whole thing.
And this is very me. It s a lot more charming.
I got, like, emotional putting it on.
Clearly was feeling myself. [Samantha giggling]
There were some scenes in this season
that were so challenging emotionally
that I can t wait to watch.
And that s not even scenes that I m a part of.
I was excited to see them in general.
What about you?
The first three episodes,
I was, like, gasping when I was reading it.
And that s mostly in the younger storyline.
Did it fill the appetite?
Yeah.
Yes. [Samantha laughing]
Everyone will be satiated.
[both chuckling]
Well, this was super fun. Yeah!
I love looking at all these pictures and all the looks.
Yes, it was a really, really good time.
[Samantha giggling]
Oh, wait!
We should sign the book.
Oh, yes, yes, yes!
Okay. Okay.
Here we go. Perfect.
Me first? Yeah, go, go, go.
Okay. You got it.
All right, my superhero S.
Perfect. Well, your name
is longer than mine.
Eventually you re gonna shorten that.
Right, Sam? It s just a lot of squiggle.
You know, yeah, exactly, exactly.
Oh, thank you so much, Vogue.
Yes, thank you for tuning in to, Fast Forward Fashion.
We ve had a really good time.
And be sure to watch, Yellowjackets.
New episodes are streaming now on Showtime.
